We primarily focus on running events for the WPI Computer Science students and faculty. By joining us, you'll be informed of these events and will be able to have a say in which events we run. Since joining is free and entails no responsibilities whatsoever from you, there's no downside! Especially since most of our events involve free food.
We're centered around the Computer Science department and most of our members are CS students, but that doesn't mean you're required to be a CS major to join us! If you're interested in Computer Science, feel free to drop by.
To join, just come to one of our meetings! Meetings are currently held weekly on Tuesdays at 6:00pm at our lab in the Fuller Labs sub-basement (room A23). We encourage our members to join us at our meetings when they can, since it gives you a chance to hear about the current state of the club and it lets you voice your opinion on upcoming events, but attending meetings is not required. We're always happy to see new faces, and we'd also be happy to put you on our mailing list if you introduce yourself there!
Alternatively, if you'd like to be notified of upcoming events but can't or don't want to come to our meetings, that's fine too - just email our Secretary, Ian Lonergan, and he'll help you join our mailing list.
The Association for Computing Machinery is a national professional organization of computer scientists, software engineers, systems administrators, and other IT professionals. A student membership is currently $19 per year, but entails more benefits than simply joining our mailing list:
For more information about the benefits of a student membership to the national ACM, or to join, visit the ACM's website at www.acm.org.
